Judy Murray Launches New Tennis Programme

Judy Murray’s Miss-Hits programme announced its new free mobile and tablet app has been shortlisted for the Sports Technology Awards, in the ‘Best Technology to Promote Participation in Sport’ Category. The app is now available for download on all Apple and Android devices.

Designed by Judy Murray, Miss-Hits has been launched in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA). The programme is specifically targeted at girls aged five to eight years old and aims to get more young girls playing tennis. It focuses on fun, friendship and enjoyment, whilst enabling girls to discover skills they never knew they had.
The programme features six characters who take the girls through the basics of tennis with a variety of active sessions. Each character has their own signature tennis shot, trick, game and dance, to help the girls learn more about each of the basic elements of tennis.

The Miss-Hits website launched on Monday 23rd March; you can visit the website at www.miss-hits.com  The website has 3 sections- adults, children, and coaches, including a feature to register interest in becoming a Miss-Hits coach.
The Sports Technology Awards celebrate the increasingly important role that technology plays in sports, with the Miss-Hits app being one of six to be shortlisted in its category. The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony on Friday 27th March 2015.

British Fed Cup captain, Judy Murray designed the programme and has been helping to roll it out over the past eight months. Judy said “we’re delighted to see the Miss-Hits app shortlisted for these prestigious awards. The programme has had overwhelming interest since last summer and we can’t wait to train up more coaches and see more young girls get excited about tennis. Miss-Hits is about having fun, and offering young girls the chance to have really positive first experiences of the sport. The app and the website look great and will hopefully really enhance the programme and engage with both adults and children.”
